Woman, officers taken to hospital after crash with Knoxville police vehicle

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville woman faces several charges after crashing into a police officer's car Monday night.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Magnolia Avenue at Winona Street.

Police say Erin Auer, 25, ran a red light, hitting Officer Jeff Holmes' city issued Lincoln LS.

Auer, Holmes and Officer Phil Jinks, who was a passenger in Holmes' car, were taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Auer was charged with disregarding a red light, driving on a suspended license and failure to meet financial responsibility.
