FOUNTAIN CITY (WATE) -- An early morning shooting in Fountain City leaves one person dead and another in police custody.

It happened at 2203-A Highland Drive. Police are not yet releasing the name of the victim or suspect.

Around 5:00 a.m., neighbors woke to some commotion coming from the home. When police arrived on the scene, a man was in the front yard. He told authorities he had shot someone.

A victim was found inside the home with a fatal gunshot wound. A suspect was taken into custody for questioning.

"I know there's a mom and dad and some young kids," says neighbor Mary Wilson. "I just met the woman during a power outage. I talked with her at the grocery store, but that's about it."

Neighbors say the family has lived there for some time. Area residents just formed a neighborhood watch, but say the quiet community very rarely sees crime.

"It's a little frightening. You only get to know your neighbors so well. You really don't know what's going on in everyone's lives," says Wilson.

Police are not giving much information about the shooting. However, they say the victim and suspect could be related
