Resort building burns in Pigeon Forge

PIGEON FORGE (WATE) -- A fire destroyed the guest center building at a rental cabin complex in Pigeon Forge Wednesday morning.

First reports of the blaze at Sunrise Ridge Resort came in around 2:00 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the resort on Ridge Road to find flames shooting from the back of the structure.

No one was inside the building and no injuries were reported.

The building's double roof posed a challenge as crews attacked the fire.

Capt. Chris Knutsen of the Pigeon Forge fire Department tells 6 News that stored furniture also provided ample fuel.

The guest center is thought to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
