Traffic death kills 2, 1 was lawmaker's brother

DRESDEN (AP) -- A West Tennessee traffic crash has killed both drivers, one of them, the brother of a state legislator.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash happened Wednesday on U.S. 79 in Henry County.

A tractor-trailer driven by Johnny Rippy, 52, of Henry collided with a car driven by Thomas Maddox, 46, of Dresden.

Maddox was the brother of state Rep. Mark Maddox, a Dresden Democrat.

State Sen. Roy Herron said on Thursday he and Tommy Maddox grew up together and his death was "a great loss of a mighty good man."

The trooper's report said the tractor-trailer pulled into the path of Maddox's car at an intersection.
