New Grainger High School opens

GRAINGER COUNTY (WATE) -- Hundreds of students entered the new state of the art Grainger High School for the first day of classes Monday.

Many were still trying to navigate their way around the 193,000 square foot school that takes the place of Rutledge High School.

"I think the kids are buying into the school from what I can hear in the halls and I think they're going to really have a good year this year," says Principal Ronnie Cabbage.

Monday was only a half day for students. Tuesday is their first full day.

Students from Washburn School have the option to attend Grainger High or take classes not offered at their school.
