OAK RIDGE (WATE) -- Roane State Community College Professor Pat Wurth is still shaken up after a run-in on the Oak Ridge Turnpike Thursday. She says the racial incident happened because she supports Barack Obama for president.

"This car pulled up beside me, and there were three people in it. They yelled out the window, 'n****r loving b***h' and then they pulled right in front of me and slammed their breaks on so hard that they burned rubber on the street," Wurth says.

"Once I got control of the car, I just stayed back because you don't know what people are going to do like that. It was really scary," Wurth continues.

The professor says it's obvious why she was targeted. She has a photo of Barack Obama on her back windshield She also has a bumper sticker that reads, "While we breathe, we will hope. Barack Obama 2008."

"I was shocked, but now I realize it really is a big issue for a lot of people."

She felt that big issue of racism not once, but possibly twice recently. Two Obama signs have been taken from her front yard.

"I think it's really sad that we can't support who we want to without being afraid of it," Wurth says.

Although she's  afraid, Wurth says she refuses to be a victim. She's a proud Obama supporter. "Maybe if he is president, it could change people's minds. I would hope that happened."

Wurth also tells 6 News no police report was filed about the incident when she was driving because she didn't get a good enough look at the car's license plate.
