I am so thrilled to be back in Big Orange Country! I spent half of my college years at UT, where I served as an Orientation Leader, a deejay for “The Rock,” and a member of a sorority. Since then, I’ve made my way up and down the eastern United States, taking my career from midtown Manhattan to the peanut farms of southeastern Alabama. It’s such a privilege to return to the place that helped shape me into the person and journalist I am today.
When I’m not working, you can often find me watching or reading the news. It’s safe to say that I’ve passed the “news junkie” phase. I have a healthy obsession with politics, and I love following election cycles. For fun, I enjoy spending time outdoors, staying active, and catching up with friends.
What You Enjoy About Local News:
I take great pride in being the voice for those who often don’t have one. Journalism, in my view, is about connecting people and making a big world feel small. Perhaps my favorite thing to do in life is learn, and journalism allows me to be a life-long learner. I enjoy meeting new people, listening to their stories, and putting myself in another person’s shoes. Working in local news has challenged me to be a better reporter and a more compassionate person. I feel a responsibility to report with integrity and always seek out the truth. It’s one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs out there, and it’s a true joy to go into work each day.
