5 arrested after shots fired into Anderson County home

CLAXTON (WATE) - Five people were arrested in the Claxton community of Anderson County Sunday morning after shots were fired into a home.

Deputies say they first began receiving around 30 anonymous 911 calls from a cell phone around 5 a.m. that someone was shooting into a home on East Circle. However, the calls were not coming from that home.

Deputies went to the house and spoke with someone on the front porch who initially gave a false name and false information about what happened. He eventually turned out to be Cody Shane Awais, 26.

His brother Samir Joseph Awais, 23, was hiding in the backyard while Alyssa Mansfield, 24, was inside. Bullet holes were found in the front of the house.

Both Awais brothers had outstanding warrants in Anderson, Knox and Sevier counties. Mansfield was not wanted.

The three eventually admitted shots had been fired at the house on two separate occasions earlier in the morning, but would only say it was because of a "dispute." No one was injured.

After taking the Awais brothers into custody, deputies went to the home on Blacksferry Road where the 911 calls had been made.

There they found Kevin Scott Garner, 25, and Arthur Allen Bourdeau, 20. Deputies learned Garner had fired the shots on both occasions earlier in the morning and Bourdeau had made the anonymous 911 calls.

Deputies found the two handguns used in the shooting along with a large amount of marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested.

During the investigation, another resident, David Harry Wender, 30, arrived. According to deputies, he interfered with the crime scene and scuffled with deputies. He was also arrested.

Both Awais brothers and Garner remain in the Anderson County Detention Facility. Bourdeau and Wender were released on bond.

The investigation into the possession for resale of marijuana is ongoing. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

Deputies are not sure why Bourdeau made all the anonymous 911 calls about the shooting since he was found with Garner who was apparently the person responsible.
