FORECAST: Clearing and cold overnight with areas of frost

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Be sure to follow the WATE 6 On Your Side Storm Team for the latest updates:

It will clear out and continue to cool down overnight leading to some areas of frost by Friday morning.

  • Tonight: Clearing and cold with areas of frost for some. Low: 35°.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, but cool. High: 64°.
  • Saturday: Sunshine mixed with a few afternoon clouds. High: 70°.

It shouldn't come as a surprise as Old Man Winter just doesn't want to go away quietly. Clouds will thin out overnight and winds will die down allowing most to dip into the 30s. This means areas of frost will be possible and some may even see a freeze, especially in some higher elevation areas. Take precaution to cover plants and tender vegetation once again with a blanket, sheet or extra mulch.

We will see tons of sun for Friday, but highs will remain well below average in the lower 60s. It will remain clear again Friday night with lows mainly in the upper 30s, but some sheltered areas could see mid 30s and once again some patchy, light frost.

Saturday will be fine for any outdoor activities with highs climbing into the upper 60s lower 70s along with more sunshine and a few more afternoon clouds.

Clouds thicken up Sunday, but most will remain dry during the daytime hours. Highs will reach upper 60s as well, so again conditions look favorable for outdoor plans.

Rain coverage increases overnight Sunday and does look a little more likely Monday. If this trend continues Monday may end up being our next Weather AWARE Day.

This appears to be a slow moving system, so rain coverage could linger through Tuesday into Wednesday.
