KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - The lowest scoring restaurant of the week recorded several risk factor violations in its health report, problems that could potentially lead to foodborne illness if not corrected.
The grade is a 79 at Pero's, a Greek and Italian eatery on Conner Road in Powell.
When the inspector checked, she found no hand soap at the employee handsink. Instead, they were using detergent to wash their hands. You might do that at home, but you can't do it at a restaurant.
Also, no sanitizer was found running through the dishwasher.
The inspector also found food left unprotected in the walk-in cooler. Raw eggs were also being improperly stored in the refrigerator. And when she checked, the inspector found the microwave was dirty.
The restaurant has since been reinspected and the old grade of 79 has been upgraded to a 95.
