Kentucky man jailed after firing shotgun at police officers

BELL COUNTY, KY (WATE) - A Kentucky man is in jail charged with attempted murder of police officers in Bell County after an encounter with officers early Monday morning.

Bell County deputies and Pineville police officers were serving a search warrant in the Fourmile community in Bell County. When officers knocked on the door, police say Buford Warren, 51, fired a shotgun at the officers through a window. 

A deputy fired back at Warren, who police say surrendered and was taken into custody.

A police officer suffered minor injuries from a window that broke when shots were fired. No one else was injured.

Kentucky State Police say Warren is charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer, five counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer and one count of first-degree assault of a police officer.

Kentucky State Police continue to investigate the case.
