2 taken into custody after police chase spans 2 counties

Two people were taken into custody after a police chase that spanned two counties.

The Oak Ridge Police Department saw a wanted suspect, Dustin Sheehy, in a parking lot on South Illinois Avenue around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says Sheehy's black Chevy Impala hit an Oak Ridge Police vehicle before driving off.

A deputy spotted the Impala on Harrell Road and started to chase it.

The driver crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic at multiple times and reached a speed of 90 mph, according to the report.

At one point, Sheehy lost control of the vehicle which caused it to spin near an interstate on-ramp.

The chase ended on I-40 in Knox County near West Hills.

Sheehy was taken into custody and his passenger, Renee White, was detained.

A K-9 officer searched the vehicle and police found 6.5 grams of methamphetamine, 5 syringes, clear baggies and 6 phones with multiple batteries.

The suspects did not claim the drugs or paraphernalia.

Deputies discovered Sheehy had multiple warrants from Anderson County and his driver's license was revoked.

Sheehy faces charges for felony evading, aggravated assault and driving on a revoked license.
