Blount County deputies search for Knoxville man after pursuit

ROCKFORD, Tenn. (WATE) - The Blount County Sheriff's Office is searching for a Knoxville man after a pursuit Thursday afternoon in Rockford.

Damon Louis Lenoir, 46, is wanted for felony evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, misdemeanor evading arrest, and several drug charges.

The sheriff's office says a deputy stopped a vehicle on Old Knoxville Highway near the Roddy Branch boat ramp around 1 p.m. for several traffic violations. Deputies say Lenoir was in the driver's seat.

As the deputy was conducting the investigation, officers say Lenoir locked his door and sped off. After a short pursuit, he got out of the car and ran into a heavily wooded area.

Several deputies, K9s and a Knox County Sheriff's Office helicopter, as well as Alcoa Police Department officers, searched the area for Lenoir, but were unable to find him.

Deputies say felony amounts of powder cocaine and Xanax for resale were found in his abandoned vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Blount County Communications at (865) 983-6320 or the 24 hour anonymous crime line at (865) 273-5200.
