TAZEWELL, Tenn. (WATE) - A Claiborne County man pleaded guilty Monday to second degree murder in connection with the death of of a 13-month-old girl.
Denver Carson Maples, 27, of Tazewell was then sentenced to 55 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
Tazewell police officers went to an apartment in the 400 block of Tom Ball Road on September 6. Investigators found a 13-month-old child unresponsive at the scene. The Department of Children's Services and law enforcement received allegations of abuse at the residence.
The child, Maci Elizabeth Tindall-Scott, died on September 9, according to a police report.
