Family and friends want justice in Anderson County homicide

CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) - A Clinton man is dead after a shooting Thursday evening and deputies are asking for help finding the suspect.

Anderson County deputies responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Sinking Springs Road around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to ACSD Chief Deputy Mark Lucas. When they arrived, they found Bradley Charles Bivens, 48, of Clinton, had been shot and killed.

Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Lee Roberts, 45, of Clinton.

Friends of Bivens speaking to WATE 6 On Your Side say they are shocked.

"I couldn't understand why and I still can't. I don't understand why two people that grew up together like that, want to to turn on one in an instant. There's no cause for it," said Charles Ward, a childhood friend of Bivens.

Ward says he attended school with Bivens since he was a child from elementary school through high school.

"He was a good person, he didn't bother people. He was good-hearted, would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it worse than he did," said Ward.

In a statement, the Bivens family addressed the loss.

Bradley was such a people person, he was happy to help out anyone in need at anytime. We lost a huge piece of our heart it's such a tribute to his life and how he lived when we hear from all the people his life has touched. The loss that they're experiencing it's as if they were all family.

Anyone who has information on the case or on Roberts' whereabouts should call Investigator Rodney Minor at (865) 457-6255, ext. 144 or the Sheriff's Communication Center at (865) 457-2414.

The family shared they will also be offering a small reward for any information on the whereabouts of Roberts.
