FBI releases photos of suspect in northwest Knoxville bank robbery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - The FBI is investigating a bank robbery in northwest Knoxville on Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery was reported around 1:14 p.m. at the First Tennessee branch at 502 Merchants Drive.

The FBI says a man pulled out and fired a handgun, then demanded cash. No one was injured from the gunshot.

A worker at nearby Nixon's Deli described the scene at the bank.

"We just heard sirens go off and looked out the window and blue lights were everywhere," said Ammie Keck. "Cops jumped out with their ARs and stuff like that and went into the bank."

After he got the money, the suspect ran off. He is described as a white male around 6 feet tall with a slender build. He had light colored hair, dark sunglasses, a baseball cap with VOLS printed on it, and a red and black plaid flannel jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Knoxville FBI office at (865) 544-0751 or the Knoxville Police Department at (865) 215-7212.
