Hawkins Co. drug ring bust leads to 4 arrests

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Three Hawkins County residents and a South Carolina man were arrested Friday for drug trafficking after a year-long investigation of the group distributing prescription opiates throughout Hawkins County.

According to the Hawkins County sheriff, sheriff’s narcotics unit began an investigation on Bobby R. Caudill, 57, for unlawfully distributing Oxymorphone. During the investigation, were able to make several controlled drug purchases from Caudill using an undercover agent. As the investigation continued officers learned that Jennifer Laux, 49, Glenda C. Helton, 29, and an unknown supplier from South Carolina were also involved.

The sheriff said officers were able to make drug purchases fromLaux and Helton, as well.

The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant for Caudill’s residence. In
preparation for the execution of the warrant officers were conducting surveillance on the residences. There, officers observed a pickup truck with a South Carolina  registration arrive at Helton’s residence. That's when the sheriff said Helton exited the residence and left in the pickup truck. The truck then went to Caudill's residence.

Officers executed the search warrant at Bobby Caudill’s residence where they found Caudill, Laux, 
Helton, and a man from South Carolina identified as Kenneth Hensley, 53. 

During a search of the residence, officers located approximately 144 Oxymorphone 40mg tablets and $11,091.00 hidden in the bedroom closet. Laux was found to be in possession of 22 Oxycodone 20mg tablets and Hensley was found to be in possession of $5,865.00 and approximately 50 Alprazolam tablets.

Continuing the search, the sheriff said officers found an additional $19,000 outside the residence, approximately 78 Oxycodone 30mg tablets and approximately 35 Oxycodone 18.5mg capsules. None of the individuals Laux was found to be in possession of 22 Oxycodone 20mg tablets and Hensley was found to be in possession of $5,865.00 and approximately 50 Alprazolam tablets. While continuing the search,
officers located an additional $19,000 outside the residence, approximately 78 Oxycodone 30mg tablets,
and approximately 35 Oxycodone 18.5mg capsules. None of the individuals was able to show a valid
prescription for the controlled substances.

The four were arrested and transported to the Hawkins County Jail where they gave statements confirming the group had conspired together to distribute controlled substances.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrest are expected to occur at a later date.

The four face the following charges:

1. Bobby Ray Caudill
a. Possession of Oxymorphone with Intent to Deliver
b. Possession of Oxycodone with Intent to Deliver
c. Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Use

2. Jennifer Juanita Laux
a. Possession of Oxymorphone with Intent to Deliver
b. Possession of Oxycodone with Intent to Deliver
c. Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Use

3. Glenda Charlene Helton
a. Criminal Responsibility for the Distribution of Schedule II Controlled Substances

4. Kenneth Eugene Hensley
a. Sale and Delivery of Oxymorphone
b. Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Deliverable to show a valid prescription for the controlled substances.
