Man arrested after dog, truck stolen in Knox County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - A man was arrested after a dog and truck were stolen last week. 

The Knox County Sheriff's Office believes Donald Jack Cates, 39, stole a truck parked at a gas station Thursday. 

Inside the truck was a Shih Tzu named "LuLu." The truck and the dog were found unharmed on Friday.

Cates was found hiding at a house on Tipton Station Road Monday morning. 

He faces charges for felony theft and animal cruelty. He is being held on a bond of $17,500. Investigators say Cates has a criminal history in Knox County which includes theft, driving without a license and criminal trespassing.
