McGhee Tyson Airport transformed to Nashville for filming of 'Dog Years'

WATE 6 On Your Side staff - ALCOA (WATE) - Passengers flying in to McGhee Tyson may have gotten a shock seeing the baggage claim area.

Over the carousels Monday were green signs that read "Welcome to Nashville." The airport got a makeover for the filming of "Dog Years."

The movie, starring Burt Reynolds, ABC's "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter and Chevy Chase, is filming in Knoxville. Crew said Monday's shoot included about 150 local extras.

The "Dog Years" crew will also be selling t-shirts, hats and lanyards with proceeds going to charities chosen by Reynolds and Winter. Rod Milligan, Owner of E T Graphics, said Reynolds is donating to his charity, the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre, and Winters chose to donate to the Humane Society of East Tennessee. Milligan says with all of the hype over the the shooting of the movie, they thought it would be great to print up merchandise with the proceeds going to charity.

"All of this going on in Knoxville, Tennessee is really a happening so, we've been excited to be a part of it," said Milligan. "Everybody can be part of this and be part of the movie."

All apparel is available starting Monday at and at some filming locations. Milligan said they will start shipping items on Tuesday.
