Middle school students build working snow machine

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Tate's Middle School students aren't ready for winter to be over.

The West Knoxville school encouraged their students to engineer a snow machine.

After weeks of drawing up blueprints and researching, they set up the machine last night and woke up to a winter wonderland, perfect for sledding.

They could use science and engineering to solve real-world problem," said Alex Edwards, a science teacher." They wanted to sled. Their solution? To build this.

"It's a lot of fun, said Weston, an eighth grader. "It's really fun for something we did at school."

Edwards said he started out the semester with a single sentence assignment: build me a snow machine.

Give these students an "A!"
