Fire contained at downtown Knoxville restaurant

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Multiple crews worked to put out a fire in a building housing a prominent downtown Knoxville restaurant on Friday night.

The call came in just before 8 p.m. at 501 Union Avenue. That location includes the J.C. Holdway restaurant. The building was evacuated.

Firefighters say no one was injured and the fire was contained to a heating and air unit on the roof. They say there is smoke throughout the building, but the fire has been contained.

WATE 6 On Your Side has a crew on the scene working to learn more.
