New attraction coming to old Belz Mall property in Pigeon Forge

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) - A new attraction is coming to the former Belz Mall property in Pigeon Forge. The Mountain Mile will feature shops, a bowling alley, arcade, restaurants and a thrill ride.

"We're very excited for what they are going to bring to Pigeon Forge and the new experience we will be able to offer visitors," said Pigeon Forge Assistant City Manager Pigeon Forge Eric Brackins,

Property developer Dixon Greenwood says it will offer something for everyone.

"Call it a festival retail or a family entertainment experience where we've got retail, restaurant and attractions all together," said Greenwood.

The main attraction will be a $3 million tower thrill ride.

"It's anchored by this 200 foot tall multi-component thrill ride that we are calling the Mountain Monster," said Greenwood.

The property also includes the still open portion of the mall that includes Nike and Old Time Pottery.

"As the tower shops get up and going then we will try to make those buildings more aesthetically match what we've done and try to improve on those properties as well,"
 said Greenwood.

The Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner and Show is directly across the street from mall property.  Box office manager Rainy Green says she is ready for the business this multi-million dollar project will bring.

"We do surveys of our guests to see how they heard about us," said Green. "We've heard several times that they say 'we just saw the sign, always wanted to come to a murder mystery' and they check us out. The more people just passing by, that's great for us."
