Oak Ridge High School student facing weapons charges

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) - An Oak Ridge high school student is facing charges in connection with recent explosions in Oak Ridge.

The unidentified juvenile student was arrested at Oak Ridge High School on Tuesday and is charged with two counts of possession or manufacture of prohibited weapons, a Class B felony.

The student was taken to the Anderson County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Knoxville Police Department's bomb squad helped officers search the student's vehicle in the school's parking lot. 

Officers found a concrete picnic table near Blankenship Field that appeared to be damaged by some sort of explosion. Two days later, a small crater and evidence were found near Milt Dickens Park. 

Investigators don't believe there was any malicious intent.
