Pedestrian sent to hospital after being hit by car in East Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Police say a pedestrian was taken to the hospital Friday night after being hit by a car in East Knoxville.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of E. Magnolia Avenue just before 7 p.m. They believe a Toyota SUV was going west when a pedestrian stepped into the lane of traffic and was hit.

The pedestrian was taken to UT Medical Center with what are described as life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV wasn't hurt.

Knoxville police say the investigation is ongoing.
