CHUCKEY, Tenn. (WATE) - A Greene County elementary school was put on lockdown Friday for what turned out to be shots fired during a raccoon hunt.
WJHL-TV reports that Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins confirmed there was no threat at Chuckey Elementary School.
The school was put on lockdown Friday afternoon after reports of shots fired near the building. Greene County Director of Schools David McLain told WJHL two teachers heard gunshots outside the school and called police.
Both Greene County deputies and Greeneville police officers rushed to the school. Sheriff Hankins said in light of the shooting in Parkland, Florida this week, his office is taking any reported threat seriously.
