Remains identified as missing Blount County man; suspect in custody

TALLASSEE, Tenn. (WATE) - Remains found earlier this week in Blount County have been identified as a man missing since January and a suspect is in custody.

Dennis Allen Foltz, 70, of Tallassee, was identified using dental records.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office says a suspect is in custody in another state in connection with the case. Charges are pending, including criminal homicide.

Foltz's wife, who lives in California, reported him missing on January 11. Deputies went to his home and were suspicious when they found several pieces of mail in the mailbox. His vehicle was also missing.

During the investigation, they learned Foltz's truck was sold in August 2017 and several transactions occurred on his credit cards in the last several months.

Then earlier this week, Foltz's remains were found buried on his property.

The investigation is ongoing.
