KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - .Two men are behind bars facing charges after officers found 12 pounds of marijuana and three guns after a traffic stop in East Knoxville on Friday.
Officers responding to a call about men armed with rifles arrested Lamar Johnson and Rontrell Allen were arrested on Morningside Drive after leading officers on a chase, according to a police report.
Police say a search of the men's vehicle uncovered a Glock 22 handgun and an S&W M&P 15-22 rifle, as well as 12 pounds of a green plant substance believed to be marijuana. A third gun, a 7.62x39mm caliber rifle was throw out of the car during the chase and found by officers.
Johnson was arrested at the scene, according to police. Allen was arrested later at Holston Oaks Apartments, where police say he admitted to fleeing on foot after the car chase.
Neither man admitted to owning the guns or the marijuana, so both were charged.
Johnson, who was previously convicted on cocaine and marijuana charges, is charged with evading arrest, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of 10-70 pounds of a schedule VI drug.
Allen faces charges of evading arrest, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed and possession of 10-70 pounds of a schedule VI drug.
