Snow flurries turn to sunshine in East Tennessee

CARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Some parts of Campbell County saw snow on the ground Monday morning, but by the afternoon, it gave way for some sunshine. Areas saw temperatures in the 40s.

Some travelers were surprised to see snow this time of year but it was not shocking for them to see the sun later on in the day.

"If you don't like Tennessee weather, you can come back in 30 minutes and it'll be different," said Aaron Duvall.

He said he now expects swift changes in temperatures. However, it's something this East Tennessee native was not used to years ago.

"Back in the 90s, you never seen anything like this. You could pretty much expect the weather and what it was going to be but now it's a totally different story," he said.

Locals were excited to see the sunshine. Some preferred fluctuating temperatures than certain storms seen in other parts of the country.

"We don't have the floods, we don't have the hurricanes, tornadoes," said Garland.
