Power restored in Sevier County; thousands were in dark

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - More than 10,000 people in Sevier County were without power Wednesday night.

The Sevier County Electric System reported on their website as of 7 p.m. the total number of customers in the dark stood at 10,515. By 7:15 p.m., that number had been reduced to 45.

The Sevierville Police Department reported on Twitter there were power outages on Dolly Parton Parkway, East Main Street and Parkway, affecting businesses and traffic signals. A short time later, they posted power was being restored in those areas.

Representatives with SCES have not yet responded to requests about what caused the outage.
