Traffic stop uncovers 4,400 pills, heroin

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) - A traffic stop on Feb. 12 in Jefferson County led state troopers to thousands of pills, along with cash and heroin.

A state trooper stopped Kenneth Young, 37, of Detroit, Mich. on Interstate 40 for speeding, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. During a consensual search of Young's car, troopers found 4,400 pills in pill bags, one ounce of heroin and $1,886 in cash. The majority of the pills were identified as oxycontin.

Young was arrested and charged with felony possession of heroin and Schedule 2 pills for resale.
