KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WATE) - A dog and truck stolen from a Knoxville gas station Thursday afternoon have been found safe.
The owner, Joe Roberts, says he went inside Weigel's on Governor John Sevier Highway for a few minutes and when he came back his vehicle was gone.
According to the police report, the truck was unlocked and running because Roberts' dog, a Shih Tzu named Lulu, was inside.
The sheriff said deputies found the truck abandoned with Lulu inside on Government Farm Road.
"I drove past it three or four times last night when I was looking for her," said Roberts. "I just didn't think to go down that road."
The victim said he saw a white man in tan Carhartt overalls and a pink hoodie nearby that could possibly be the suspect.
"He ransacked it," said Roberts. "Took a little bit of money, and stuff but that all doesn't matter, as long as I've got this little thing right here."
