Wanted man arrested after pursuit in Alcoa

ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) - A Maryville man wanted for several charges including burglary was arrested Friday after a short pursuit in Alcoa.

Darin Scott Flowers, 24, faces new charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest and driving on a suspended license. He was previously wanted for violation of probation, failure to appear, domestic assault and aggravated burglary.

Deputies say a deputiy spotted him while traveling on East Lincoln Road around 1:30 p.m. The deputy turned around and followed Flowers to Hall Road. Other deputies arrived and were able to box in Flowers' vehicle in the left turn lane.

As one of the deputies got out of his vehicle, Flowers took off and struck the deputy's cruiser door. Flowers drove through the parking lot of a business before getting back onto Hall Road.

A deputy performed the PIT maneuver on his vehicle at the stop sign at Lindsay Street and Hall Road, causing Flowers' vehicle to hit a curb before he took off again and crashed into a power box at Food City.

Flowers then tried to run through the Food City store and out the back door, but deputies arrested him behind a nearby business.

Bond amounts and court dates have not yet been set.
