WINTER WEATHER ALERT: Freezing rain may cause icy roads Monday morning

IMPACTS & TIMING:

Morning Commute:
  • Freezing rain is expected with light ice accumulation. Roadways will be icy. 
Late AM/Early PM
  • Freezing rain starts to change over to rain as temperatures warm.
Afternoon Commute:
  • Light to moderate rainfall will impact your commute home. Visibility will be low at times and icy spots are still possible.

We are Winter Weather ALERT starting tonight as freezing rain moves in early tomorrow morning. Temperatures across the board will be flirting with freezing and since we've been below freezing the past few days, it won't take much to cause icy roads. Ice accumulation will be around 0.03"-0.05". 

The Plateau and S.E. Kentucky will be impacted first, as early as 5 AM. This system continues to moves Southeast towards the Valley around 7/8 AM. As of Sunday evening, before the precipitation can makes its way to the Foothills and Smokies, temperatures will be above freezing expecting mainly rain Monday morning and afternoon.

Temperatures will continue to warm into the upper 30s and low 40s so during the afternoon commute home, light to moderate rainfall is expected.
