Clarksville boy found in Mexico 5 months after alert issued

WKRN staff - CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 9-year-old boy who was taken from Clarksville earlier this year has been found in Mexico.

An endangered child alert was issued for Christopher Ponce on Feb. 27 after he was taken by William King following a custody hearing.

During the hearing King, who was previously married to the boy's mother, lost custody of the child.

During the course of their investigation, authorities discovered King and Ponce were staying in the outskirts of Mexico City.

King was taken into custody Thursday morning at a FedEx store in Mexico.

According to a release, King initially refused to tell police where the boy was.

Ponce was later found and is in good health, authorities said.

He has since been brought back to the United States and reunited with his mother later Friday.

King will be returned to the U.S. where he is expected to face a number of charges including especially aggravated kidnapping.
