Massive tree falls on building trapping mother & young child in Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A huge tree toppled in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, trapping a mother and her young child inside their home, according to rescue crews on the scene.

It happened at the Brentridge Apartment Homes in Antioch about 5:30 a.m.

A woman and her 18-month-old child told officials they were sleeping when they heard the large crash.

They were not injured according to fire crews, but they were trapped inside the home until help could remove some of the debris blocking their exit.

Those on the scene believe the rain and saturated ground likely caused the old tree to fall.
