Man shot in leg during robbery in East Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - A Knoxville man was taken to the hospital after police say he was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the leg.

The Knoxville Police Department says officers were called to the 2500 block of Parkview Drive in East Knoxville just before 7:30 p.m. where they found the victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his left leg.

Witnesses said two men had followed the victim inside a home and each pulled out handguns and demanded money. The victim and one of the suspects got into a scuffle over the gun, resulting in the victim being shot in the left leg.

Both suspects ran off. They are described as African-American men wearing black ski masks covering their faces. One had a black winter style jacket and the other was wearing a green jacket.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
