KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Fulton is still in the hunt to play for its third state championship in the last four years after rolling past Unicoi County 90-57 in an AA Sectionals matchup on Monday at Fulton High School.
The win also marked career win number 700 for Falcon's head coach Jody Wright.
"I put very little thought into that because my thought was on this one," Wright said. This one enables you to keep playing but I'll have to say I've been extremely blessed with some great kids to coach and some great assistant coaches. I'm just a small part of the puzzle right there but it's been a good run and the main thing is I'm glad were still playing."
Fulton sophomore guard Edward Lacy, who led the Falcons with 26 points, said the 700 milestone was on his mind during the game.
"We've been talking to him about it all day and it finally hit him when they put the 700 signs up," Lacy said. "It feels special. Coach Wright has been pushing us to this point and we finally did it. It starts now though. It's just the start and we got to keep going."
TSSAA will host a blind draw for the state tournament on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET to determine the state tournament brackets.
