Maryville man arrested for impersonating soldier

MARYVILLE (WATE) -- A Maryville man is facing charges for pretending to be a soldier.

Alcoa police arrested James Schuder and charged him with criminal impersonation.

According to a police report, Schuder was hitchhiking along Alcoa highway dressed in military fatigues and claiming to be a soldier just back from Iraq.

One driver apparently gave Schuder a hundred dollar bill to help buy a plane ticket.

Schuder was actually living in a motel across the street.

He is free on a $1,000 bond.
