SWEETWATER (WATE) -- A man being held in the Monroe County Jail has been charged with the murder of a Sweetwater man in 2006.
John Edward Dawson, Jr., 41, is charged with the first degree murder of Troy Green.
Investigators believe the murder happened on or around April 21, 2006.
Green was first reported as a missing person on April 22, 2006 by his wife, Barbara. His vehicle was found two days later in McMinn County.
On May 3, 2006 Green's body was found in rural Roane County. An autopsy done at UT indicated his death was a homicide.
Investigators developed Dawson as a person of interest. They say he knew Green and associated with him at times through business, and other activities.
A Monroe County grand jury indicted Dawson on Thursday. He was in jail on unrelated charges.
