Hours after Knoxville bank robbery, suspect turns himself in

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- A man suspected in the robbery of a Knoxville bank Saturday morning turned himself into police Saturday night.

Police and the FBI say ORNL Federal Credit Union on Kingston Pike was robbed Saturday around 9:30 a.m. when a man got away with an unknown amount of cash.

Bryan Samples, 38, of Kingston, was arrested after he turned himself in to a police officer at about 11 p.m.

Samples is charged with one federal charge of bank robbery.

He is scheduled to appear in court Monday at 11:00 a.m. for an initial hearing.
