Our January teacher of the month is LeAnn Dickson, a Junior/Senior Dramatic Arts/Musical Theatre teacher at Bearden High School.
Tina Watts nominated Mrs. Dickson on behalf of her son, Dominic Gillette. She wrote:
There are so many reasons why, it's hard to list just six.
I am a parent who relocated my children to Knoxville from Los Angeles, California, after a traumatic experience. Our spirits where broken and all four of my children had been affected by the move and loss of an older brother.
Upon enrolling my children in Bearden High School, I was so excited to see my son Dominic interested in Theatre Arts. He had spoken to me briefly about auditioning for a part, and I encouraged him to try, he was a freshman, and very nervous.
Mrs. Dickson immediately took him under her wing. As time passed by, Dominic has grown and matured into a confident and inspiring young man. He has decided that this genre is what he wants to do for the rest of his life.
Mrs. Dickson has continually shown the community that through the arts, expression of ones self , obstacles, hindrances, and any other challenge that may seem overwhelming may be released in a positive way.
The Bearden High School community has supported all performances with an overwhelming show of appreciation. Mrs. Dickson has taught the students perseverance, patience, determination, consideration, time management, and above all else compassion for one and another, as well as the community we live in.
This is why we feel that a nomination for Mrs. LeAnn Dickson is well deserved.
