ALCOA (WATE) - Two people were killed in a crash on Alcoa Highway Friday evening. A third person was injured.

Jean Smith, 82, of Oak Ridge was trying to make a left turn onto northbound Alcoa Highway from Topside Road at about 2:50 p.m. in her 2006 gold Toyota Camry. Clara Miller, 75, of Clinton was a passenger in Smith's car. Alcoa police say Smith pulled in front of a green Dodge Ram truck, which hit the driver's side door area of her vehicle.

Brandon Barnes, 23, of White Pine was driving the truck. Barnes was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.

Smith was killed instantly in the crash. Miller was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she died from crash-related injuries.

Alcoa police officers are continuing the investigation into the crash, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
