Lane closures scheduled along Highway 66 in Sevier County

Good Morning Tennessee Anchor/Reporter

SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Crews working for the state Department of Transportation will begin lane closures along Highway 66 in Sevier County this week.

The area under construction is between Interstate 40 and Douglas Dam Road.

The closures are needed as crews install concrete barrier walls.

Expect delays between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night through the end of the week.

TDOT warns of potential delays and advises drivers to use extreme caution through this area.

The work is part of phase one of the Highway 66 improvement project. The entire project from I-40 to downtown Sevierville will widen the existing highway from four lanes to six lanes easing congestion.
