SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A Sevier County corrections officer and two other men were arrested and charged Monday in connection with a burglary and theft.
Jonathon Galyon, 22, of Sevierville, is a civilian corrections officer for the Sevier County Sheriffs Office. He is suspended without pay pending an investigation.
The incident began when a man who lives on Byrd's Cross Road called the sheriffs office Monday afternoon saying some men were trying to burglarize his outbuilding.
The men fled on an ATV that was spotted a short time later being hauled away in a white Dodge truck. The driver of the truck, later identified as Galyon, left the scene.
The other two men, Spencer Scott Hatcher, 22, and Michael David Land, 33, were detained soon after at Webb's Market on Newport Highway.
Land was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Hatcher was arrested for criminal trespassing.
Officers later caught up with Galyon, who had a Suzuki ATV as well as a weed eater stolen from a home on Layman Drive earlier Monday.
All three men were eventually charged with burglary.
Hatcher and Galyon were released on bond.
Land is being held until a court hearing.
