MADISONVILLE (WATE) - Investigators have arrested a woman months after Monroe County Election Commission Chairman Jim Miller was found shot to death with his body set on fire in the trunk of his car.
Jessica Kennedy Powers, 27, was indicted Wednesday by the Monroe County Grand Jury on one count of felony murder, aggravated robbery, arson of personal property and abuse of a corpse.
Miller's body was found on July 17 on Sands Road in Monroe County.
Powers is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $500,000 bond. She was served with the indictment in the Meigs County Jail while being held on unrelated charges.
"The charge of aggravated robbery lends itself to motive and that's all we're able to confirm currently," Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm said in an email.
She also says Powers and Miller knew each other, "but the extent of their relationship is unknown at this time."
No other suspects will be arrested, according to Helm.
