KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knox County criminal court judge is taking an indefinite leave from his position.

Beginning Monday, January 31, Judge Richard Baumgartner will take a leave of absence for medical reasons.

He will be replaced by another judge until he returns or steps down.

Judge Baumgartner has served over many high-profile trials including the Christian-Newsom murders and the trials for Raynella Dossett-Leath and Thomas "Zoo Man" Huskey.

Officials have not said yet who will take Baumgartner's place.
