Ken Sparks restocks Carson-Newman Eagles with 41 recruits

JEFFERSON CITY - Carson-Newman head coach Ken Sparks will have 41 new players to help return the Eagles to championship form in 2011.

The Eagles slipped to 7-4 in 2010 after going 11-3 in 2009 and making it to the NCAA Division II semi-finals.

"We're excited that some quality young men have made the decision to join our program," Sparks said in a statement released on signing day. "I feel like we've signed some difference makers, and not just on the football field, but men that will make a difference in this world. We wanted a group of kids that felt like the Lord was leading them here with a chance to influence the future of Carson-Newman football and the future of the world."

The Eagles open spring practice on Feb. 19.
