KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police are searching for suspects after a man was found shot to death Saturday afternoon in a North Knoxville apartment.

Officers were responding to a call about shots fired at the Madison Square Apartments on Dahlia Drive around 2:30 Saturday afternoon where they found Troy Anthony Stringer, Sr., 42, dead in one of the units.

"I think right now it is an isolated incident," said Police Sgt. Ryan Flores. "Again, we are still in the investigative stages to determine the circumstances surrounding it."

Police are treating Stringer's death as a homicide.

"I was just shocked, nervous, scared," said Bonnie Burgin, who was visiting her son two doors down from where the victim was found.

Burgin says she first learned about the shooting when someone knocked at her door.

"It was a girl," said Burgin. "She said call 911. Somebody been shot."

Stringer's son and an unknown woman were at the scene after police left. They did not want to say anything about the situation.
