NCAA's revised notice of UT allegations reveals little new information
KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The NCAA is issued a revised version of the notice of allegations Tuesday against the University of Tennessee's men's basketball and football programs, but the new document reveals little more than what the first document showed.
The 26-page document has large amounts of text blacked out, or redacted. The edits strike out many of the details of the 10 major violations against the basketball program and two against the football program.
WATE 6 Sports and several other local media outlets issued a request for an unedited copy of the allegations through the state's Open Records Law.
Based on that request, Tennessee athletics officials provided a new copy of the document, but it does not shed any new light on some of the issues.
In several cases, the original document contained missing sections about allegations made by the NCAA against Tennessee head basketball coach Bruce Pearl and his assistant coaches, and former football head coach Lane Kiffin and his staff.
The new document provides the missing sections, but most of the details about the allegations are blacked out.
School officials and athletics department officials have all said they are cooperating fully with the NCAA.
