CLINTON (WATE) - Former Anderson County Mayor Rex Lynch pleaded guilty Friday to nine charges including tax fraud.

Lynch, 46, entered his plea in Anderson County Circuit Court to one felony count of conflict of interest, one felony count of tax fraud greater than $500 and six misdemeanor counts of tax fraud less than $500.

One count of official misconduct was dismissed.

Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood sentenced Lynch to an overall sentence of two years. He received probation and judicial diversion.

He was also ordered to pay $695.89 in tax restitution to the state.

Lynch resigned as mayor in January when he was indicted for the sale of a pickup truck, along with the purchases of another pickup truck, a car, two SUVs and two motorcycles. He reported false amounts for those purchases.

A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was sold by Lynch and then purchased by the county for thousands of dollars more.
